Micro Studio Comparison
Micro Studio ImHomeToo
TM
This floor plan series to the right explains the logic behind Micro Studios. Using Dignity, Cost and Site Efficiency criteria - MicroStudio scores highest for housing people experiencing homelessness.
Ratings are on 1 - 5 scale:
1 is low, 5 is high.
Bed is a bed (cot or bunk) in a shelter, usually densely packed in a large space and people are required to move out every morning and come back in the evening. Their possessions usually need to be taken with them each time they move.
Sleeping Cabin is a 70 SF factory built cabin that is a commonly used solution currently. Cabins are 1 story, usually need to be separated from each other and don't use constrained sites efficiently. Bathrooms are remote, food prep is remote in separate structures. (we have not included tiny houses, but the ones without bathrooms are similar to sleeping cabins).
ImHomeToo Micro Studio is a 215-244 SF modular unit that comes in Type B (Adaptable). and Type A (Accessible) unit sizes. They are able to be coupled and stacked up to 3 stories. Bathrooms are included, light food prep is included.
Efficiency Dwelling Unit is a 397 SF modular (or site built) unit that is Type A Accessible. Units are able to be coupled and stacked up to 5 stories. Bathrooms and a full Kitchen is included.
