INFLUENCES, INSPIRATIONS
Parthenon Center was a mixed-use, transit-oriented development project in the middle of Portland’s Lents neighborhood that replaced the New Copper Penny restaurant, nightclub, and ballroom. The project included 200 units of independent senior living apartments with common areas, dining room and support, a Providence ElderPlace, a Loaves and Fishes Center, and retail space for a large market and smaller, neighborhood oriented shops. The project gave residents a full array of on-site services while giving the neighborhood a new life in a currently blighted area.
Parthenon Center had a strong presence on the Freeway during the day and night, with strong forms that express the uses inside the building, and multi-colored balconies to liven up the exterior.
We strive to design a senior living environment that it is hopefully seen by residents as a place to start a new chapter in one’s life, making new friends and engaging in the community.
