Clatsop Micro Studios
Clatsop Micro Studios is a scattered site project in Astoria and Seaside, Oregon to get people with housing challenges, housed. They are smaller for a reason, their costs are about half of a typical studio apartment - theory being that we can get two housed for the cost of one. If we want to get people off our streets, we need to innovate, we need to reduce costs, and we need to reduce the rent. We also feel that having a bath in each unit has many benefits, from dignity, to convenience, to property management. For information on ImHomeToo Micro Studios, click here.
Modular allows for the same project on different sites, after being manufactured in one factory - hence 'scattered site'. The Micro Studios are also a standardized 'product' beautifully designed for living for residents in need of short or long periods of time, or permanently.
In Astoria, there will be 14 Micro Studios, with one of the units being a Common/Service module. Residents will include singles, couples, and/or a parent with a child.
In Seaside, there will be 10 Micro Studios behind an existing house that has common living, dining, kitchen and laundry already in place for a dozen existing residents. Residents will be adult men with significant co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders.
